'The Red Rose' by Irish painter, Sir John Lavery, is a portrait of a beautiful and fashionable woman - his wife , Hazel. Lavery was fascinated with her beauty and her face appeared in over 400 of his paintings. Her portrait was also found on Irish banknotes between 1928 and 1975.
The piece is a fascinating fusion of shimmering Czech glass and silky ribbons, all framed with many black and tangelo orange seed beads and sequins. Two gorgeous glass briolettes dangle from this assembly.
